NORTH BOTHELL LITTLE LEAGUE JR. UMPIRE PROGRAM

Introducing teenagers to the craft of umpiring with North Bothell Little League expands the involvement of our youth in our league, while creating a fun way for young adults to learn leadership, responsibility, and accountability.

Whether a high school athlete, or not, becoming a junior umpire with North Bothell Little League offers teens a way to grow their self-esteem and gain experience in a fun, educational setting.

At the same time, teenagers are looking for opportunities to prove themselves and are often looking to collect civil service hours to be credited toward graduation and volunteer activities to build their resumés.  Once these commitments are fulfilled, if needed, Jr. Umpires are able to earn $50 per game when umping behind the plate & $35 per game for field umping

In March of each year, after each new and returning Jr. Umpire successfully completes the application and background check,  the NBLL UIC (Umpire in Chief) will hold a NBLL umpires training session for all Umpires. which include umpire mechanics and rules.  District 8 will also host umpire clinics as well as a virtual rules review.  Jr. Umpires will have the opportunity to work Baseball and Softball games.  With leadership provided through a NBLL's mentoring regimen, experienced Little League umpires will be partnered with theJr. Umpires. Together, in real-time situations, they will train and practice throughout the season.  With comfort comes confidence.  NBLL strives to have these new umpires become acclimated at a steady pace, while having fun.  We make every attempt to avoid overwhelming them and we place each junior umpire into an environment where they can become comfortable with the game from this new and different perspective.

There are also several resources to prepare for Umpiring through Little League University.  Register with Little League Umpire Registry, to receive up to date information.

You can also venture over the the Umpires tab on the NBLL website with even more umpire resources.
